The Soccer Team

Cori and Eric both attended Chico State, although never met until living in the South Bay. Eric, who had grown up in Palos Verdes, returned to the area after college and a few years in Sacramento and moved in with a few old friends in Hermosa Beach. While in Hermosa, Eric continued his website development career while traveling and playing the guitar with his band, Mystic Roots, a reggae band he’d started in college. Cori, who had just finished grad school in Long Beach, was anxiously awaiting her next venture and decided to move to Redondo Beach with her best friend Rebecca.

Shortly after moving to the area, Cori joined a co-ed soccer league and it so happened that their mutual friends also invited Eric to play on the same team. The two began going out with the team after games and eventually ended up talking one night, reminiscing about their favorite Chico experiences. Cori was impressed by Eric’s history of playing guitar and remembers Eric’s band, Mystic Roots, playing at college parties.

Eric finally asked Cori out one night, inviting her to join him and some friends to see one of his favorite bands play in Hollywood. As it turned out, all his friends were [conveniently] unable to go, so the two went to dinner and then the show. They had a great time and Cori invited Eric and his friends to her birthday a couple weeks later where they had their first kiss!
